Tulkus 1880 to 2018 by Paola Pivi
Experience the penetrating gaze of the Tulkus. For three years, visual artist Paola Pivi collected photographic portraits of Tulkus – advanced teachers or lamas in Tibetan Buddhism – which are able to exert influence on their reincarnation. By interpreting cryptic clues, they can discover where their next birth will take place. Paola Pivi has brought more than 1,500 portraits of these Tulkus together in an impressive art installation.
